Skansen Interiors was announced winner of the inaugural AIS Eco-Innovation award at the Association’s annual Conference in Bournemouth on 10 October.
James Pack, director at Skansen collected the award which was given for Skansen Interiors’ development of the Ska Rating tool.
Developed in conjunction with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, the Ska Rating is a method for benchmarking the environmental performance of an office fit-out. It enables a sustainable measure for fit-out projects to be considered alongside typical cost and programme decisions, providing a quick and simple way of assessing their environmental performance.
The judging panel, which included senior representatives from The Environment Agency, CIRIA, and The Environmental Academy said: 'This was a very innovative entry with the ability to influence a large number of companies. The legacy of this project will be far reaching'.
